Haloes de Jupiter Cotes du Rhone GSM blend 2019

Tasted alongside a Bordertown Syrah and Little Gully Mr. Black’s Little book Shiraz.

This is a 75% Grenache 15% Mourvedre 10% Syrah blend. On the nose it was just a medium intensity of black cherry, licorice- fresh pack of twizzlers, black pepper, and some meatiness. Grippy tannins and intense flavour. Dnpfa needs more complexity to be enjoyable better value out there. 15% abv isn’t blatantly obvious. Good quality. Not a very crushable wine.

Small Gully Mr. Black’s Little Book Shiraz 2017

Tasted this along side the Canadian Bordertown Syrah and a GSM blend from Cotes du Rhone’s Haloes de Jupiter Winery.

This Barossa Valley syrah had scents of toasty oak, cedar, with ripe blackberry and black currant. Black pepper, baking spice, and tobacco. 15% abv The high alcohol was not overbearing with the heavier oaked style. DNPFA Let this one sit for a while to develop more tertiary notes. Good flavour and nose intensity. Very good quality missing some depth.
